"Televison for the Community by the Community."
On November 25, 1998 the Connecticut Department of Public Utility Control granted management of public, educational and government access television for cable franchise Area 2 to Sound View Community Media (SVCM). Area 2 includes the communities of Bridgeport, Fairfield, Milford, Orange, Stratford and Woodbridge.

SVCM is responsible for providing facilities, equipment, training and related services to Area 2 access users, who wish to create their own television shows. SVCM is within walking distance to the Bridgeport Public Library, Housatonic Community College, the Polka Dot Playhouse, Barnum Museum, People's Bank Center and the Bridgeport City Hall Annex.

"Take Time" Coffee and Lunch Shop is located on the first floor. Roberto's Restaurant is located at the corner of State and Main Street and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Dunkin Donuts is open in the Bob's Furniture Store complex across from Housatonic Community College.

Security personnel are stationed at the main lobby desk on the first floor Monday through Friday from 7AM to 7PM and Saturday from 9AM to Noon. All persons entering the 211 States Street must sign in and sign out at the security desk. The neighborhood surrounding SVCM is safe and well lit at night.
